TLAYUDAS

The tlayudas are the representative dish of Oaxaca, this dish is an incredible combination of flavors, this dish is based in a bigger “tortilla” that is between the consistency of tortilla and tostada, in the tortilla you can put asiento, beans, vegetables, quesillo and even meat.

The tlayudas can be found in restaurants, in the food street stalls and in markets.

FRESH FLAVORED WATER and ICE POPSICLE

In this months (March to June) the heat is heavy in Oaxaca, and the best way to refresh is with fresh water or an ice popsicle, the most known and flavored are the Popeye (eyePop), you can find the popsicles in little cars in the street or in the stores.

You can find the water in stalls of nieves and water in the street or in markets.

TORTAS

If you are hungry in the street, a good torta will calm your apetite.

Mexico was conquered by spaniard and this brought a cultural combination that influenced the food, a torta has this combination as the tlayuda.

The torta is bread, with beans, mayonnaise, oaxacan cheese, meat, etc…

The most famous are the tortas of the Hormiga, you can get these in the Consatti park, near to the Llano.
