WHAT IS THE TYPICAL STREET FOOD FROM DAY OF THE DEAD IN OAXACA?

Hello to everyone, the Day of the Dead is gone, and to close this dates I bring to you a post that could be useful for the next year.

Today I present you the street food of Day of the Dead in Oaxaca.

1.- ¨CALAVERITAS¨ (CRANES) OF CHOCOLATE, SUGAR OR AMARANTH

This is the most typical from Day of the Dead and something that you can only find in this dates.

This are a candy, and it can be done with chocolate, sugar or amaranth, this are decorated with pieces of plastic, chocolates, and other decorations.

WARNING: The ¨calaveritas¨ of shugar are sometimes are not eatable.

2.- PAN DE MUERTO (DAY OF THE DEAD BREAD)

It is something that is not going to lack anywhere and you can accompany it with a delicious hot oaxacan chocolate, in Oaxaca the Day of the Dead bread is ¨pan de yema¨ with sesame and a ¨carita¨ (face) nailed in the bread.

3.- TAMALES

There are not only of Day of the Dead, but they get more consumed in this dates, specially the one that is of ¨black mole¨ with chiken.

4.-FRUIT

The fruit is not prepared but is something that is eaten a lot, specially the fruit of the season that are mandarines, ¨tejocotes¨, loquats, pumpkin and others.

All the food here mentioned is also put in the altars to our beloved.
