WHAT TO DO IN DAY OF THE DEAD? OAXACA 2021

The cancelation of the massive activities has left the doubt about, What activities can be realized in this Day of the Dead? Here in Travel in Oaxaca I give you a list of activities that you can do so you don´t miss this festivity.

1.- WALK IN THE HISTORIC CENTER

The Historic Center of Oaxaca is a very good option to know the art of Oaxaca in Day of the Dead because you can see the facades of hotels, restaurants, plazas and the Historic Center decorated with paper flags and big catrinas close to the CHURCH OF SANTO DOMINGO DE GUZMÁN.

2.- VISIT RESTAURANTS AND STREET FOOD STALLS

During the festivities, some restaurants are going to have traditional and special dishes of this festivity, like tamales, mole, oaxacan chocolate, Day of the Dead bread and others. You can visit the posts that I leave you here to know more.

3.- VISIT THE FIELD OF DAY OF THE DEAD FLOWERS

This is a very good option, a lot of tourists have done this things this years, in the fields you can take pictures, know about the sowing period, and take some flowers to your hotel or house. You can know more in the post of below.

4.- EXPLORE IN THE JALATLACO BARRIO

In this barrio you can find nice cafe´s, and Day of the Dead paintings and grafitis were you can take pictures and get a make up if you want.

5.- VISIT TOWNS

Because of the restrictions maybe you are not going to find a lot of things like before but you can find Day of the Dead bread in wood oven, calaveritas of amaranth, chocolate or sugar and some traditional decorations.

A town were you can find Day of the Dead bread in wood oven is in Santa Cruz Xoxocotlán, my recommendation would be panadería Elenita.
