WHAT IS MEZCAL?
The mezcal is an distilled alcoholic drink made from maguey, the mezcal can be done from 30 different species of maguey. The most used is the agave agustinfolia also known as Bacanora.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MEZCAL AND TEQUILA?
As I mentioned, mezcal can be done from 30 different species of maguey, while the tequila is only done from blue agave, other difference is that tequila is only made in Jalisco and mezcal is made in several states.
The most important difference is in the production, because the maguey used to do mezcal is roasted, this gives it the ¨smoky¨ essence it is famous for.
WHAT STATE PRODUCES MORE MEZCAL?
Oaxaca is the major productor, it has more than 60% of the volume of exportation from the total of liters in U.S. and 90.1% of the total production of México.
